Emilio Giménez, CEO of MS2S Innovation: "CDTI Support Innovation in the development of ATENXIA for adhd and dyslexia children has always been very positive and collaborative work"

ATENXIA is an innovative platform for artificial intelligence created by MS2S INNOVATION and the university of Granada, with the support of the CDTI and Erdf Funds For Innovation, which raises a transformation in the approach of adhd and dyslexia: early intervention, and customized scientifically validated to improve the care, reading and writing in an effective and inspiring

Emilio Jiménez, CEO de MS2S INNOVACIÓN
ATENXIA is not a mere application: it is a paradigm shift in the treatment of adhd and dyslexia, linking science, technology and empathy

Behind a number of cases of failure rates, low self-esteem and social challenges in children often conceal diagnoses late or invisible dyslexia and ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder). These conditions, which according to who affect approximately 10 per cent and 8.8 per cent of the global population, respectively — mostly children of school age — continue to be treated with partial approaches, tools or little personalized interventions without sufficient scientific backing.

In response to this challenge from the technology and scientific knowledge is bornATENXIA, a platform based on artificial intelligence that helps identify, train and improve basic cognitive functions as the sustained attention and reading lamps, through an individualized intervention, adaptable and complete.

This development is the result of the joint work ofMS2S INNOVATIONandUniversity of Granada.with support from the CDTI, co-financed with Innovation FEDER founds. ATENXIA bet for a social impact, integrating elements of gamificación, automatic learning and science to provide effective therapeutic experiences, motivating and scalable, conceived for its implementation in school environments, clinical or family members.

As noted by Emilio Giménez, CEO of MS2S ATENXIA INNOVATION: “ it is not a simple application: represents a paradigm shift in the treatment of adhd and dyslexia, linking science, technology and empathy to offer real tools to minors, families and professionals ”.

A joint response to frequent needs

“ the idea came up with a clear objective: to develop a clever tool to help improve the care, to read and write in children with ADHD and dyslexia. From the outset we saw a gap between scientific knowledge accumulated and its practical application in the educational environment. We wanted to build a flexible solution, accessible and adaptive, ” explains Jiménez.

One of the elements that distinguish ATENXIA is precisely its comprehensive approach. The treatments that separate the boarding of adhd and dyslexia — despite the fact that often coexist —, the continental part of a joint model acting simultaneously on both dimensions.

“ more than 30 per cent of children with dyslexia also show symptoms of ADHD and vice versa. But often compartmentalized approaches, which does not address all their cognitive and emotional needs, ” says Jiménez. ATENXIA breaks with this fragmentation, allowing more effective intervention, optimizing times and customizing the experience for each user.

AI and inspiring adaptive

The platform is designed for minors aged between 6 and 12 years and includes specific functionalities for therapists, teachers and families. Through interactive exercises, artificial intelligence assessed individually atencional profile and a reader to the child, detecting alterations in Areas such as the sustained attention, memory operational or processing speed.

From this assessment, ATENXIA designs custom training paths, which fits in real time to the individual progress. “ the system automatically adjusts the difficulty level, the type of stimulus or the pace of work, ” explains Jiménez.

The Jpa Atenxia accompanies the smallest in cognitive development through recreational activities appropriate to their level.

The motivation is also a key element in the design, dynamic ATENXIA employs gamificación designed from the neuroeducación. “ childhood interventions, especially with adhd, maintaining the motivation is crucial, as there is a greater sensitivity to frustration and error, ” says Jiménez.

The expected — as sustaining attention, improve reading or complete complex exercises — are recognized by positive reinforcement systems as stars, avatars or avoiding levels, always a stimulation. “ it is not lead to dependency of reward, but to strengthen the effort and real progress ”, he said.

Science and proactive alerts

Each session on the continental generates data that provide relevant information to customize and improving intervention. ATENXIA techniques applied science of data to identify patterns of behaviour, adjust the content and anticipate potential difficulties.

This translates into intelligence panels and monitoring dynamic visual, designed to facilitate the work of professionals and families. In addition, the platform has a system of alerts that acts as a mechanism for conflict prevention and support: identifies signs of stagnation or risk and proposes coordinated actions between clinical setting, family and school.

“ the analysis of the interactions, the system can detect if it is necessary to adjust the intervention, to review the educational environment or even pose a new clinical evaluation. This allows us to intervene before they arise setbacks or lose effectiveness, ” explains Jiménez.

Scientific rigour and Ethics by design

The scientific component is essential in ATENXIA. In collaboration with the university of Granada, there have been validated therapeutic content and are being tested in pilot schools and clinical contexts.

The purpose is twofold: to ensure that the tool works in a range of conditions and lay the foundations for future implementation on a large scale, without losing customization and effectiveness.

The whole process takes place in strict compliance with the legislation and ethical principles. “ we work with child population, so that the privacy is not just a legal requirement: is a pillar of the project, ” says Jiménez. The solution complies with the RGPD, LOPDGDD and other international regulations, and has been designed following criteria for privacy and Ethics.

A road map with vision

ATENXIA has a clear plan for the coming years. Between 2025-2026, the aim is to be consolidated as a reference in the intervention in ADHD and dyslexia, expanding its use in schools, clinics and specialized centres, and completing the scientific validation through longitudinal studies.

In parallel, works in their internationalization, starting with the spanish market — spain and latin America — and moving towards location in english and its entry into regions such as the european Union or MENA (Middle east and north africa).

They are also developed new functionalities: panels with more advanced automatic reports, recommendations for professionals, custom integration with educational and clinical systems exist, and a continuous improvement of the algorithms thanks to automatic learning and the analysis of large volumes of data.

In 2030, if the impact of the platform is confirmed and consolidated partnerships with the academic and clinical equipment, to extend the model for other profiles with specific educational needs. “ We believe that the technology, with well-designed social purpose, can make a real difference. That is what we want to do with ATENXIA, ” concludes Jiménez.

CDTI Innovation

The centre for technological development and innovation, CDTI E.P.E. is a public company under the ministry of Science, innovation and universities, whose goal is the promotion of technological innovation in business. The CDTI mission is to ensure that the business fabric english generates and transform knowledge into growth científico-técnico globally competitive, sustainable and inclusive. By 2024, within the framework of a new strategic plan, the CDTI provided more than $2.3 billion euros of support for business startups and spain.
