CDTI Innovation’s SICC Innvierte invests in Columbus Innvierte Life Sciences Fund V, a specialized fund in life and health sciences
With this commitment, the CDTI Innovation reaffirms its commitment to investment in projects with transformative potential in the health and pharmaceutical industry
Columbus Innvierte Life Sciences Fund V, FCR is a fund managed by Columbus Venture Partners, focused on investing in companies in the field of life sciences and health. It focuses on European and American technology-based companies, in the areas of biotechnology, advanced therapies, medical devices, precision medicine, diagnostics, digital health and artificial intelligence applied to health. The fund will support both initial phases (series A and B) and more advanced growth rounds, with minimum investments of 2 million euros and its objective is to promote disruptive projects with transformative potential in the health and pharmaceutical industry, favoring innovation and the creation of value in the ecosystem.
The commitment of the CDTI Innovation, through Innvierte, is up to 70 million euros. This public-private partnership boosts investment in biotechnological companies in the field of life sciences and health, with the aim of improving people’s lives.
Columbus Venture Partners
Founded in 2016 by Javier García Cogorro and Damià Tormo, this venture capital fund manager specializing in biotechnological projects invests in innovative therapies, medical technologies and scientific infrastructures to accelerate the development of new treatments.
Since its launch, it has completed a total of 4 investment funds in which 50 companies have participated.
Your bet is to originate solutions. To do this, they create bio-industries that are born to solve widespread problems of the global health system.
As biotech entrepreneurs, they scale companies from science to market. To balance risk and maximize the profitability of funds, projects are distributed at 50% between advanced therapies and infrastructure development, as well as in key industrial technologies that drive progress in healthcare.
Innvierte
Innvierte is an initiative whose objective is to promote business innovation by supporting venture capital investment in technology-based or innovative companies. This program is implemented through the closed-ended collective investment company Innvierte Economía Permanente SICC S.M.E., S.A., self-managed and subject to the supervision of the National Securities Market Commission and of which CDTI Innovation is a single shareholder.
To date, the CDTI Innovation has committed, through Innvierte, 3,666.5 M€ in 64 investment vehicles and, through its co-investment line, has directly committed an amount of 889.9 M€ in 197 companies.
Innvierte is part of the Spanish Strategy of Science, Technology and Innovation 2021-2027, approved by Agreement of the Council of Ministers, in September 2020. This Strategy contains the objectives, reforms and measures that must be adopted throughout the field of R+D+I in order to boost its growth and impact, and is one of the pillars on which the design of the Government's R+D+I policy for the coming years is based.
CDTI Innovation
The Center for Technological Development and Innovation, CDTI E.P.E. It is the innovation agency of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, whose objective is the promotion of technological innovation in the business environment. The mission of the CDTI is to ensure that the Spanish business fabric generates and transforms scientific and technical knowledge into globally competitive, sustainable and inclusive growth. In 2025, within the framework of the Strategic Plan 2024-2027, the CDTI provided 2,423 million euros of support to Spanish companies and startups.
