The CDTI SICC Innvierte of Innovation invests in KOA Biotech, together with SWANLAAB INNVIERTE AGRIFOOD TECH, F.C.R. devices, to develop monitoring that drive preventive health care in aquaculture

KOA Biotech, founded in 2021 as spin-off at Pompeu Fabra, with the mission to revolutionise the aquaculture through cutting-edge technology. The company is transforming the health management in the sector from diagnostic reagents a proactive management of health. Its platform integrates biosensado owner in real time with forecasting models based on data, providing continuous monitoring of pathogens directly on the farm.

The team of KOA, composed of experts in synthetic biology, engineering and science of data, combines its knowledge to promote innovative solutions as KOA, a Lens of analysis that advanced biotechnology about their daily lives of farmers.

KOA Lens integrates techniques of artificial intelligence microbiology (IA) to provide a detailed monitoring and in real time microbial environment. It is a practical tool in the installation itself, which helps producers to monitor preventively, to anticipate possible bacterial imbalances and decision-making in time before the outbreak of an outbreak.

The CDTI Innovation, through Innvierte, has closed an operation of investment in this endeavour with SWANLAAB INNVIERTE AGRIFOOD TECH, F.C.R., with a sum of €500,000 investment. This participation, the CDTI Innovation contributes to the intelligent detection of pathogens to aquaculture.

Innvierte

Innvierte is an initiative aimed at promoting the entrepreneurial innovation through support to the risk capital investment in technology-based enterprises or innovative programme. This is done through the collective investment type closed Innvierte Sustainable Economy SICC S.M.E., S.A., self-managed and under the supervision of the national Values and that the CDTI Innovation is a shareholder Only.

To date, the CDTI innovation has committed 2,661 M €in 61 investment vehicles that have invested in more than 622 companies, and through its joint investment line directly committed an amount of 723 M €in 190 firms.

Innvierte fits into the strategy for science, technology and innovation 2021-2027, adopted by decision of the council of ministers, in september. This 2020 Strategy contains goals, the reforms and measures to be taken throughout the area of r + D + i in order to boost their growth and impact, and is one of the pillars on which the design of the government's policy in r + D + i for the coming years.
