The Innovation launches the CDTI convening 2025 of Science and innovation Missions

Misiones Ciencia e Innovación convocatoria 2025
This call of subsidies is endowed with eur 60 million

The centre for technological development and innovation (CDTI), the agency for innovation of the ministry of science, innovation and universities, has just launched the convening 2025 of Science and innovation Missions, whose goal is to support large strategic projects to research focused on encouraging pre-competitive research relevant to propose solutions to cross-cutting challenges and strategic objectives of the spanish economy, improve the knowledge and technology base that support spanish companies to compete and stimulate cooperation público-privada between companies and institutions of I + D + I. This call of subsidies is endowed with eur 60 million, of whom 15 are reserved for misión-reto “ training for strategic autonomy in security and defence ”. In case of budgetary availability, the strength of invitation could be increased to eur 80 million.

For the convening 2025, the deadline for submission of proposals is from 29 may to 1 july 2025, seven missions to address the challenges of socio-economic country identified in participative phase codiseño motivated by the CDTI in collaboration with the officers of the ecosystem:

  • Technological solutions to reduce hospital stays and pressure.
  • An artificial intelligence responsible.
  • A safe interconnected and contribute to greater strategic autonomy.
  • Territorial planning and management to improve the resilience and coping with climate risks.
  • Strategic sovereignty in the mineral raw materials essential for the industry and energy transition.
  • Training for the strategic autonomy in security and defence.
  • Sustainable mobility and decarbonisation of transport and large volumes.

To that end, we will be supporting r & D projects:

  • The projects will have a three or four years, beginning on 1 january 2026.
  • Submitted by consortia of between 3 and 6 companies include at least an sme.
  • One of the companies of the consortium will have to assume the coordination of the project.
  • The project budget by eur 3.5 million and €15 million.
  • At least 40 per cent of the budget allocated to industrial research.
  • At least 15 per cent of the budget allocated to subcontracting to research bodies.
  • The minimum budget by venture should be 175,000 euros.

The missions were not prioritized, as selected projects irrespective of the mission to which they are targeted.

In the five previous editions of missions Science and innovation, the CDTI Innovation has funded 168 projects with a grant of 467 million euros and a budget mobilized $695 million euros. Have participated 688 enterprises, of which 450 are smes (65 per cent) who have received more than eur 270 million of the total amount awarded. Furthermore, been contracted out more than 140 generating centres of knowledge (research bodies, universities and technological centre, etc.) by a volume of 71 million euros. These agencies operate with approximately 380 shares in the total number of projects.
