Convenio CDTI-INCYDE
The agreement, with an initial duration of 4 years, will support entrepreneurs, startups and SMEs with growth potential

The Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI Innovation) and the INCYDE Foundation of the Chambers of Commerce of Spain have signed a collaboration agreement for the development of training and mentoring activities aimed at technological entrepreneurship, business innovation and the creation of new knowledge-based initiatives. The agreement, published in the Official State Gazette on May 16, is a strategic bet for the activation of the culture of innovation from the earliest stages of the technological and entrepreneurial ecosystem and is aligned with the objectives of the current strategic cycle of the CDTI relating to the expansion of the perimeter of innovative companies, the strengthening of the ecosystem and public-private cooperation.

The objective of the agreement, whose initial duration is 4 years and which has the budgetary allocation of 6 million euros by INCYDE and another 4 by the CDTI Innovation, is to strengthen the entrepreneurial and innovative ecosystem through actions aimed at entrepreneurs, startups and SMEs with growth potential. To this end, the two entities will combine their network and territorial scope capacities to put at the service of the national ecosystem joint training and accompaniment actions whose ultimate objective is the materialization of new business projects based on business R&D and innovation.

The alliance between CDTI Innovation and INCYDE combines the territorial capillarity of the network of Chambers of Commerce, with a presence throughout the national territory, with that of the PIDI Network (Network of Information Points on public aid for R+D+I), coordinated and managed by the CDTI and of which INCYDE is part. INCYDE also contributes to this collaboration one of the largest business incubation infrastructure networks in Europe, boosted by the support of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), made up of more than 200 spaces to support entrepreneurship, including high-tech incubators specialized in strategic sectors, business incubators and digital coworkings. This confluence of networks generates a multiplier effect in the scope of the actions, allowing to reach both entrepreneurs in urban environments and in rural areas and territories with lower density of innovative tissue.

The agreement also contributes to the social impact commitments of the CDTI Innovation, specifically in terms of generating quality employment linked to innovation, promoting equal opportunities in access to technological entrepreneurship and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, especially SDGs 8 (decent work and economic growth), 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure) and 17 (partnerships to achieve the goals).

Within the framework of the agreement, an impact assessment study will be developed that will measure the degree of creation or consolidation of technology-based companies linked to training actions, effective participation in international technology cooperation programs, results in international technology transfer and the practical application of the knowledge acquired in innovative projects.

Priority objectives

The planned actions are aligned with seven priority objectives: to promote self-employment with criteria of economic sustainability; to develop professional and social skills that increase both employability and the chances of entrepreneurial success; to generate networks of contact and collaboration between the business fabric; to increase the survival rate of new projects through specialized advice; to promote business success through the identification of growth opportunities; to specifically support the creation and consolidation of technology-based companies; and to facilitate Spanish participation in international technological cooperation programs and the international transfer of business technology.

The agreement seeks to promote innovative business projects with real viability, growth potential and capacity to adapt to new technological and economic challenges, also promoting business autonomy, digitalization and internationalization.
