The CDTI Innovation promotes co-design sessions to define the new Science and Innovation Missions 2026
The sessions, held throughout March with different agents of the Spanish System of Science, Technology and Innovation and representatives of the General Administration of the State, have allowed to contrast nine possible thematic areas that will serve as the basis for the next call for the program
The CDTI Innovation has organized during the month of March a series of co-design sessions with the main actors of the Spanish innovative ecosystem and with different entities of the General Administration of the State, with the aim of advancing in the definition of the new Missions Science and Innovation 2026.
Science and Innovation Missions is a call for applications included in the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2024-2027. Its objectives include promoting the transfer of knowledge and promoting large R&D projects in business collaboration aimed at responding to strategic technological and socioeconomic challenges for the country.
These sessions, held in March, are part of the activities of the CDTI-Lab, a co-design space defined in the CDTI Innovation Strategic Plan for the period 2024-2027, aimed at adapting the programs and instruments of the CDTI to the needs of the innovative ecosystem through open participatory processes or based on invitations, as the case may be.
After a prior consultation process, the CDTI Innovation has proposed to the actors of the innovation ecosystem nine possible thematic areas or topics that will serve as the basis for structuring the next call for proposals.
The working sessions have been organized into three thematic tables focused on different strategic areas: missions of an industrial nature, missions linked to the bioeconomy and missions of a socio-sanitary nature. These meetings have allowed the proposed proposals to be contrasted, enriched and prioritized.
Based on the nine thematic areas raised at this stage, the call for Science and Innovation 2026 Missions is expected to include between three and five missions.
The thematic proposals put forward in this consultation process are available on the CDTI Innovation website, which includes the discussion document used in the working sessions: https://www.cdti.es/ayudas/misiones-ciencia-e-innovacion-2026
