The CDTI Innovation, an entity under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, has published in the Public Sector Contracting Platform (PLACSP) the tender for Pre-commercial Public Purchase of R&D services for the development of innovative solutions in the field of the denitrification of inland waters.

This action is financed from CDTI Innovation’s own funds and with cofinancing from the ERDF, within the framework of its commitment to the promotion of business R&D and public-private collaboration in environmental improvement and territorial sustainability.

The excessive entry of nutrients and organic matter into the Mar Menor ecosystem —mainly nitrates— has caused major episodes of eutrophication, loss of water quality, anoxia and fish mortality. Both surface runoff and drainage through the quaternary aquifer of the Campo de Cartagena are identified as factors that transmit this pollution, which demonstrates the need to intervene both in the lagoon and in its watershed.

The technological challenge posed by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, through its Ministry of the Environment, Universities, Research and the Mar Menor, is the development of a system that allows the efficient and environmentally sustainable denitrification of the waters that pour into the Mar Menor from the Rambla del Albujón and the drainage channel D-7, thus contributing to the ecological restoration of the lagoon ecosystem and the protection of the territory in the long term.

The deadline for submission of tenders is until 9 January 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Details and place of presentation in the Public Sector Contracting Platform.

Interested companies can send their doubts or requests for clarification through the PLACSP, in the “Questions and answers” tab of the tender announcement, or by email to contratacion.cpi@cdti.es, indicating in the subject “TENDER RECOVERS”.
