The CDTI Innovation delivers to the Center for Biomedical Research in Red, CIBER, the prototype of the BRAIN PET project within the framework of the Pre-commercial Public Purchase
- The PET Cerebral initiative, focused on R&D services to develop a high-sensitivity, high-resolution PET scanner for brain use, has had a base tender budget of 9.2 million euros.
- The public entity requesting and validating the solution is the Center for Biomedical Research in Network (CIBER)
The CDTI Innovation continues to deploy the delivery of prototypes developed through Pre-Commercial Public Procurement actions, initiatives co-financed by the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (MRR) and the European funds FEDER 2021-2027.
In particular, the delivery to the Center for Biomedical Research in Network (CIBER) of the Cerebral PET prototype has been formalized, which has already been installed in the Hospital La Fe in Valencia for validation. This state-of-the-art Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner offers high sensitivity and resolution for brain studies, becoming a pioneering tool for the diagnosis and monitoring of neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or certain types of brain tumors.
In addition, the prototype integrates all clinical research processes, from diagnostics and treatments to genetic studies and clinical trials. Its aim is to make it easier for scientific discoveries to reach clinical practice faster, thereby improving patient care.
The project has a base budget of 9.2 million euros and an execution period of 24 months until the final validation of the prototype. During this period, the scanner will be evaluated in real conditions of use, which will allow its effectiveness, precision and clinical usefulness to be verified before possible future developments.
Since 2018, the CDTI Innovation promotes public procurement in the Pre-commercial (CPP) modality. Thanks to this instrument, prototypes of innovative products or services are developed that meet public needs and are ceded to interested entities to validate the technology in real environments, always for the purpose of technological demonstration and without immediate commercialization. In general, these initiatives are co-financed mainly with European funds.
