The European Animal Health and Welfare Partnership (EUPAHW) has launched its second call for funding of international R&D projects, with the aim of boosting research and innovation in the field of animal health and welfare. This initiative is part of the co-financed European partnerships and seeks to strengthen international cooperation to address key challenges in the livestock sector and animal production.

The call is aimed at international consortia, composed of entities from at least three countries, and includes two priority themes. On the one hand, animal welfare, with projects aimed at improving welfare throughout the production cycle, including birth, breeding, transportation and slaughter. On the other hand, prevention and control, focused on the development of innovative therapies and vaccines to prevent and control infectious animal diseases, reduce the use of antimicrobials and improve the resilience of livestock.

In the case of Spain, the CDTI Innovation will finance the participation of profit-making companies, both SMEs and large companies, established in the national territory. The funding will be granted in the form of a grant, with intensities of 60%, 50% or 40%, depending on the size of the company, and will cover industrial research and experimental development activities, according to the definitions set out in Regulation (EU) No 651/2014.

The deadline for the submission of pre-proposals is 30 March 2026 at 12:00 h (CEST).
