The CDTI Innovation and the canaries are consolidating their collaboration at the 6th session of the mixed commission to monitor implementation of the convention

The sixth Committee joint follow-up to the collaboration agreement between the CDTI Innovation and the agency Canaria of research, innovation and information society (ACIISI) of the canary islands, held this week at the seat of the CDTI Innovation in Madrid, made it possible to review the results of recent exercises and plan new lines of cooperation

Positive Balance of approved projects and new opportunities for cooperation

The collaboration agreement between the CDTI Innovation and the agency Canaria of research, innovation and information society (ACIISI), in force from 2019, aims to promote the entrepreneurial innovation, technological development and participation of entities canarias in international and national programmes of R + D + I.

In the framework of the 6th mixed commission was presented the report of Follow-Up To 2025, which reflects very positive results of the work done between 2021 and mid-2025. According to recent data the CDTI Innovation has adopted in the canary islands 60 r & D & I projects with a total budget was $33.5 million euros, which more than 24.5 million have been funded directly by the CDTI.

During the meeting discussed the results of the national calls involving companies and entities, including missions canary Science and innovation, ERDF Interconnects NEOTEC or, as well as the momentum to the Pre-Commercial Public Purchase (CPP). In this area, strategic projects such as new systems of desalination of seawater, and the autonomous aircraft for the detection and extinction of forest fires, which make The Canary Islands in the forefront of innovative solutions with great potential to transfer.

It also repasaron initiatives in collaboration with the Instituto de astrofísica de Canarias (IAC), in particular the preparatory consultation on the market detectors for applications SPAD leaders in astronomy, which strengthen the role of the archipelago international benchmark in scientific research.

At european level, the report highlighted the increasing participation of entities canarias in Horizon Europe. To date, 53 entities of the archipelago have brought about the adoption of 163 proposals, with financing over 84 million, reflect the capacity of The canary islands to be integrated into international networks of innovation.

The meeting concluded with the proposed dates for the next meeting and highlighted that the partnership between the CDTI Innovation and the canary islands government has established itself as a key instrument to boost competitiveness and technological development in the canary islands and strengthen the regional ecosystem of innovation.
