The CDTI Innovation announces the opening of the 4th Spain-Taiwan Joint Call for R&D projects
The call, within the framework of the Taiwan-Spain Innovation Program (TSIP), will remain open until November 19, 2026 and is aimed at collaborative R&D projects between entities of both countries.
The objective of this call, managed by the CDTI Innovation and the Department of Industrial Technology (DOIT) of Taiwan, is to promote ambitious and market-oriented R&D projects, developed jointly by Spanish and Taiwanese entities, to develop or substantially improve innovative products, processes or services for civil use in the following areas of interest:
- Green energy
- Artificial intelligence and semiconductors
- Biotechnology and pharmaceutical products
- Circular economy
- Advanced production
In case of interest in other technologies of civil use, the requesting entities may communicate it to assess its possible fit in the call.
The deadline for submitting applications will remain open until November 19, 2026.
Technology cooperation projects
The call includes industry-driven and market-oriented technology cooperation projects between industrial companies in Taiwan and Spain, including startups, SMEs and large companies. The consortiums of both countries must have at least one company and may incorporate universities, research centers and other organizations. In the case of Spain, universities, research centers and other organizations may participate as self-financed entities or subcontractors.
The projects will last between one and three years and must demonstrate the added value of international collaboration, as well as the capabilities and contributions of the partners of both countries.
For the approved projects, the CDTI Innovation and DoIT will finance the participants from their respective countries, according to their national instruments and funding conditions and subject to budgetary availability.
Search for partners
Spanish companies that do not yet have a Taiwanese partner can request support to identify potential collaborators. The DoIT, together with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), is responsible for identifying opportunities for collaboration and actively searching for Taiwanese partners interested in participating in the Spanish proposals.
Interested Spanish companies can transfer their idea of collaboration through the form "Taiwan-Spain Joint International R&D Projects partner search", sending it to the email address: taiwan@cdti.es.
If they already have a Taiwanese partner, companies can submit the TSIP forms and the consortium agreement directly through the CDTI Innovation electronic headquarters and the DOIT electronic headquarters.
