The CDTI Innovation announces the first joint SKIT call between Spain and Korea

On January 12, 2026, the first joint call Spain–Korea Infrastructure & Transport Technology Program (SKIT) will be opened for the presentation of proposals for international technological cooperation in the field of infrastructure and transport.

1a Llamada SKIT España Corea
The call will remain open until February 26, 2026.

The Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), an entity under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement (KAIA), a public agency attached to the Ministry of Territory, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) of the Republic of Korea, have reached an agreement to launch in 2026 a joint call to finance technology cooperation projects in the infrastructure and transport sector.

The deadline for submission of proposals will be open from January 12 to February 26, 2026, with the aim that the selected projects can start from July 1, 2026.

The CDTI and KAIA will support joint technological projects developed by Spanish and Korean business entities, independent of each other. In the Spanish case, the projects may additionally count on the participation of non-business entities as subcontractors.

Characteristics of the projects

The projects presented must meet the following characteristics:

  • The result of the project must be an innovative product, process or service oriented to the market, fruit of the technological cooperation between the participants.
  • The consortium must be formed, at least, by a Spanish company and a Korean company, independent of each other, the project being relevant to all partners. No country or member of the consortium will be able to concentrate more than 70% of the total budget.
  • The maximum duration of the projects will be 30 months.
  • The budget must be consistent with the expected developments and with the technical and financial capacity of the participants.

Consortium partners must sign a Consortium Agreement that regulates the rights and obligations of the parties, as well as aspects related to intellectual property, exploitation and marketing of the results.

Procedure for submission of proposals

In the CDTI Innovation, the submission procedure distinguishes between the International PCTI-SKIT Application and the National Aid Application.

For the International Application, the participants must submit, through the electronic headquarters of the CDTI and KAIA respectively and before February 26, 2026, the online application accompanied by the following mandatory international documentation (in English), common to all the partners of the consortium:

In the case of the Spanish part, the International Application (PCTI-SKIT) will be presented on-line through the CDTI electronic headquarters and will be unique by project, even if two or more Spanish companies participate.

Once the International Application has been submitted, the CDTI and KAIA will begin to verify the eligibility of the proposals according to the criteria established in the call.

In addition, the Spanish companies of the consortium must submit, also through the electronic headquarters of the CDTI, the Application for National Aid (online form and technical report in Spanish). This application will be individual for each participating Spanish company and must be submitted before March 10, 2026, in order to meet the resolution deadlines committed by both agencies.

Characteristics of the aid

The SKIT Program will grant approved projects a “seal of quality”, which recognizes the technological level of the proposal and acts as a promotional element. Within the framework of this call, this seal will also allow access to public funding, with each country assuming the funding of its participating entities.

The financing of Spanish companies will be carried out through the instruments of the CDTI Innovation for R&D projects in international technological cooperation, currently in the form of partially reimbursable grants. New aid instruments for this type of project could be published during 2026.

It is recommended that partners contact their national agency as soon as possible, once the project idea has been defined.
