The CDTI Innovation and the Government of Aragón celebrate in Zaragoza the 7th Joint Monitoring Commission of their collaboration agreement
Both institutions analyze the evolution of the financing of business R&D&I in Aragón and reinforce its coordination to promote innovation and technological development in the Autonomous Community
The CDTI Innovation and the Government of Aragón have held in Zaragoza the 7th Joint Monitoring Commission of the Collaboration Agreement signed between both entities for the promotion of innovation and technological development in the Autonomous Community. This agreement, signed in 2019 and extended in 2023, establishes a stable framework of cooperation for the promotion, dissemination and support of business R+D+i in Aragón.
During the meeting, the follow-up report of the Convention has been presented, which includes the balance of the activity of the CDTI in Aragón since 2021 and the impact of its different instruments of support to business R+D+I. During this period, nearly 240 R&D&I projects have been supported with the participation of Aragonese entities, reaching a total of 174 companies and beneficiary bodies in the Community.
By province, Zaragoza concentrates the largest number of approved operations in the period, followed by Huesca and Teruel, which reflects a broad territorial implementation of the CDTI support instruments in the Community.
In terms of typologies, Research and Development projects, cooperative initiatives, projects within the framework of strategic programs such as Science and Innovation Missions, as well as participation in instruments such as Red Cervera, NEOTEC or sectoral technological programs stand out.
Among the strategic instruments analyzed, the role of Innovative Public Procurement has been highlighted as a tractor mechanism that introduces real demand from public administrations, facilitates the validation of technologies in real environments and accelerates the arrival to the market of innovative solutions. Through this instrument, in which Aragonese companies have been awarded in various tenders, the CDTI Innovation promotes technological developments with high impact potential, reduces technological risks and favors the early adoption of new solutions.
At the international level, special emphasis has been placed on attracting R&D&I projects and on the strategic role played by these programs. Participation in international initiatives allows Aragonese entities to expand their knowledge base, collaborate with technology leaders, approach projects from a global perspective and facilitate their entry into new markets. In this context, the CDTI acts by promoting the participation of Spanish entities, participating in the management of international programs and acting as a funding agency for national participants.
Likewise, during this meeting, the participation of Aragon entities in Horizonte Europa was highlighted, both in collaborative projects and in instruments oriented to scientific excellence and industrial leadership, consolidating Aragon's position in the European space of research and innovation. The success rate of this Autonomous Community is above the Spanish average and significantly improves the one obtained in the previous H2020 program.
Finally, the Joint Commission has reviewed the promotional activities carried out in the Community and the opportunities to further strengthen the participation of the Aragonese business community in national and international programmes. The meeting concluded with the commitment of both parties to continue strengthening institutional collaboration and to continue working in a coordinated way to boost the technological competitiveness of Aragón, consolidate its regional ecosystem of innovation and favor a greater international projection of its companies and knowledge centers.
