Open call for expressions of interest of Innvierte Deep-Tech Tech Transfer to promote the commercialization of r & D spanish
- The instrument Innvierte Deep-Tech Tech Transfer, submitted on 16 may in Valencia, is endowed with 353 million euros for venture capital funds specialized in deep tech and transfer of technology, whose aim is to close the gap between academic research of spain and their scope to the labour market
- The call for expressions of interest, managed by the eif under agreement with the CDTI, is permanent and is focused on various activities to accelerate the transfer to the labour market from research centres of knowledge of spanish
- May submit expressions of interest managers of venture capital entities registered in spain whose investment strategy is focused on technology transfer and technology deep (deep tech); invest in phase pre-semilla, seed or startup; and to obtain a private commitment, at least 15 per cent of the total size of the fund

Following the recent introduction of new financing instrument indirectly Innvierte Deep-Tech Tech Transfer of SICC Innvierte of the centre for technological development and innovation (CDTI), in collaboration with the european investment fund (EIF), the working group calls for expressions of interest. The strength of 300 million euros from the CDTI and 53 million by the european investment fund, the aim of this programme is to strengthen the value chain of r & D through the injection of capital in venture capital funds that specialized in turn, invest in technology transfer projects and deep-tech.
Spain has an advanced fabric of universities, research centres and deep-tech startups whose ability to generate knowledge disruptive credited but whose transformation into commercial products and services often lacks a funding shortfall adapted to the early stages of technology. The Instrument Innvierte Deep-Tech Tech Transfer focuses in closing the gap between the creation of knowledge in spanish schools and their arrival at the market, to channel resources towards european and national venture capital funds specialized technologies in very high value added.
The call for expressions of interest is open on an ongoing basis through the portal of the eif, through the forms available to collect relevant information as a description of the investment strategy, detail of the management team, private commitment at least 15% of the size of the fund, legal and regulatory compliance, such as reports of know-your-customer (KYC), policies for the prevention of money-laundering and of good government prosecutor, as well as the declaration of absence of non-cooperative jurisdictions.
The instrument is intended solely to funds, to spain whose investment strategy will focus on projects which are proof of concept, either in companies in phases pre-semilla, seed or start-up, in both cases originating in intellectual property from Spain. The preferential sectors include advanced engineering for sustainability, artificial intelligence, aerospace, life sciences and health, economy, robotics, blue grocery transporters, ecological transformation and sustainability. this way, and the eif CDTI-Innvierte acted as Limited Partners, leveraging managers with reputable trajectory in due diligence technological, financial and ESG PERFORMANCE criteria to identify and accompany spin-offs startups, projects and research centres with high potential disruptive.
The selection process consists of several phases: formal selection to verify the eligibility and quality of the funds, assessing his team, experience and ability to attract private capital; due diligence, including comprehensive financial analysis, legal and regulatory compliance and possible clarification through the issuance of documentation of clarifications on the website of the EIF; selection pool between the eif and CDTI-Innvierte; formal adoption by THE EIF and CDTI-Innvierte according to its own procedures and committees; negotiation of the legal conditions and, finally, trade and signing of the subscription.
For startups and r & D projects, this instrument represents a key opportunity to overcome the known as “ valley of death ” technological with financing adapted to the needs of the earlier stages.
The capital provided by the funds to cover costs of demonstration activities commercial and marketing (including, inter alia, activities of development, demonstration, creation of prototypes, market development, scaling and supporting infrastructure TT DT and less developed regions), licensing of intellectual property, sale of patents, establishment of new enterprises, support in the business planning, launching spin-offs or joint ventures, support in the incorporation of personnel and building strategic partnerships with other organizations, and collaboration among universities, research organisations and industry, including through research contracts/consulting. In Addition, the involvement of the eif provides international visibility, strengthening the confidence of other investors and by facilitating the recruitment of subsequent rounds.
The expected impact goes beyond the supporting individual projects, since it aims to contribute to strengthen the fabric of spain, innovative draft spin-offs university and promoting the emergence of new managers with expertise in deep tech. Also strengthens the value chains in strategic sectors generating highly qualified employment and fostering technology applications in clean energy, circular economy advanced and digitization. Thanks to the attraction of international capital and the leverage effect, it is hoped that every public euro mobilize several euro additional private investment, increasing the economic and social return.
