The CDTI SICC Innvierte of Innovation invests, together with Mondragón promotion fund UNIRISCO II and GALICIA, S.C.R., S.A., in Néboda for the sustainable cultivation of crops and scalable high added value through vertical agriculture of the interior
Néboda, startup specializing in vertical agriculture in the interior, has developed a technological platform that produces vegetable and aromatic herbs road – as the basil – in a sustainable and scalable
Through the implementation of engineering, automation and scientific knowledge, the company has managed to increase by four yield per square metre in the past three years, reaching levels of production global leaders.
The combination of hydroponics, automation and artificial vision developed by optimizing Néboda each stage of the process, ensuring a fresh basil, tasty, with a lifetime, ecological and prolonged without pesticides. All this at competitive costs with traditional agriculture.
Thanks to its approach lean manufacturing and its own technology Néboda has quadrupled the yield per square metre in the past three years, further reducing water consumption in over 90 per cent and minimizing their ecological footprint. Your system is replicable in any part of the world, allowing locally produce, ensuring the freshness of the product from the growing consumer protection and reducing costs.
The company is now at a stage, with an industrial plant of 200 m ² located in Vigo and a production capacity of 8,000 kg/year. All Of its production is currently selling through major distributors horticultural leaders in the iberian peninsula.
Through support of investors, Néboda seeks to validate the KPIs performance and production costs that will enable it to offer products with attributes than traditional agriculture (longer life, uneven quality and stability of supply) equivalent prices. In the medium term, its aim is to lead the european market of basil and salads packed lists for consumption.
Néboda, company founded in 2019 Besada iván García and Roberto Estévez Quintela, with the ambition to offer a real solution to the major challenges of the agricultural sector: a shortage of labour, climate change and the pressure on natural resources. Thanks to its scientific and industrial approach, its proposal combines profitability, sustainability and quality, by becoming a reference in the new generation of european AgriFoodTech companies.
The CDTI Innovation, through Innvierte, just closed an operation of investment in this endeavour with Mondragón contestable fund II and UNIRISCO GALICIA S.C.R. S.A., with an amount of investment of €500,000.
Mondragón promotion fund, RCF II
The fund managed by the Key manager Capital, which aims to invest in technology-based enterprises in some of the areas of focus of the more than 150 cooperatives in the Mondragón Group (industrial and automotive B2B solutions, health, etc), in order to create positive synergies in the investees and cooperatives. Investments can vary between 250,000 and €€2,000,000, assuming risks associated with investment seed. The heritage of the funds Mondragón Contestable fund I and II, RCF amount to $21 million euros and temporary nature is 10-12 years.
UNIRISCO GALICIA S.C.R. S.A.
Unirisco is the first business venture projects linked to from universities. Invest in companies in phase pre-seed and seed and since 2001 have worked in more than 40 technological business projects, thereby contributing to:
- Technological development, promoting alternatives to the transfer of knowledge of the university to society through the generation of technology-based enterprises.

Innvierte
Innvierte is an initiative aimed at promoting the entrepreneurial innovation through support to the risk capital investment in technology-based enterprises or innovative programme. This is done through the collective investment type closed Innvierte Sustainable Economy SICC S.M.E., S.A., self-managed and under the supervision of the national Values and that the CDTI Innovation is a shareholder Only.
To date, the CDTI innovation has committed 2,661 million euros in 61 investment vehicles that have invested in more than 609 companies, and through its joint investment line directly committed an amount of $718 million euros in 190 firms.
Innvierte fits into the strategy for science, technology and innovation 2021-2027, adopted by decision of the council of ministers, in september. This 2020 Strategy contains goals, the reforms and measures to be taken throughout the area of r + D + i in order to boost their growth and impact, and is one of the pillars on which the design of the government's policy in r + D + i for the coming years.
