The SICC Innvierte of the CDTI Innovation invests together with Orza Gestión y Tenencia de Patrimonios AIE and Kutxa Fundazioa, in Polymerbio, an innovative company that manufactures biodegradable medical devices

Polymerbio is a biotechnology company dedicated to the research, design, development and manufacture of biodegradable sanitary products based on biomaterials, with extensive knowledge in polymer chemistry.

With the medical devices it is developing, Polymerbio aims to reduce surgical interventions and hospital costs, improving the quality of life of patients and the effectiveness of medical treatments and interventions. These products, based on polymeric biomaterials, are oriented in a first phase to the treatment of urethral stenosis, or abnormal narrowing of the urethra, caused by scar tissue and reducing the flow of urine, which can cause problems such as urinary tract infections, difficulty urinating and fluid retention.

The CDTI Innovation, through Innvierte, has closed an investment operation in this biotechnology company with Orza Gestión y Tenencia de Patrimonios AIE and Kutxa Fundazioa with an investment amount of 450,000 euros. Thanks to this participation, the CDTI Innovation contributes to improving the health and well-being of people, promoting the development of products to accelerate patient recovery and reduce hospital costs and waste.

Orza Management and Ownership of Assets AIE

Orza Gestión y Tenencia de Patrimonios AIE is a direct investment entity, belonging to the EPSV Geroa and Elkarkidetza, which supports the business fabric of the Basque Country and Navarre. It is a partner with a vocation of permanence for a period longer than that of Risk Capital entities that can finance successive phases of growth of a society.

Kutxa Fundazioa

Foundation that contributes to the strengthening of a sustainable, competitive and innovative network of companies in Gipuzkoa. It offers support to entrepreneurs and the business fabric of different areas, among which stand out companies of technological innovation, energy transition, industry, digital or related to health technologies.

Innvierte

Innvierte is an initiative whose objective is to promote business innovation by supporting venture capital investment in technology-based or innovative companies. This program is implemented through the closed-ended collective investment company Innvierte Economía Permanente SICC S.M.E., S.A., self-managed and subject to the supervision of the National Securities Market Commission and of which CDTI Innovation is a single shareholder.

To date, the CDTI Innovation has committed, through Innvierte, 2,885.8 M€ in 54 investment vehicles and, through its co-investment line, has directly committed an amount of 829.4 M€ in 197 companies.

Innvierte is part of the Spanish Strategy of Science, Technology and Innovation 2021-2027, approved by Agreement of the Council of Ministers, in September 2020. This Strategy contains the objectives, reforms and measures that must be adopted throughout the field of R+D+I in order to boost its growth and impact, and is one of the pillars on which the design of the Government's R+D+I policy for the coming years is based.
 

CDTI Innovation

The Center for Technological Development and Innovation, CDTI E.P.E.
