CDTI Innovation’s SICC Innvierte invests, together with Swanlaab Innvierte Agrifood Tech, in MOA Foodtech, a company that redefines the future of ingredients with AI-driven biotechnology

La biotecnología y la IA están transformando la I+D al acelerar la innovación basada en la fermentación. A good example in this area is MOA BIOTECH, S.L. (MOA Foodtech) (Navarra), a company that redefines the agri-food industry by creating sustainable, natural, nutritious and high added value foods without the need for arable land.
MOA Foodtech has developed a platform that combines AI and biotechnology to develop high-value ingredients from the revaluation of by-products. The model combines a portfolio of its own ingredients together with the development of solutions with strategic partners.
Its patented AI tool, Albatros, allows you to select the ideal microorganism to ferment each specific by-product, resulting in microbial biomass with exceptional nutritional value, high digestibility, absence of allergens and minimal environmental impact.
The CDTI Innovation, through Innvierte, has closed an investment operation in this company with Swanlaab Innvierte Agrifood Tech, FCR and the contribution of the CDTI Innovation is 674,000 euros. With this participation, the entity bets on companies that revolutionize the food sector, offering sustainable ingredients.
Swanlaab Innvierte Agri Food Tech
SWANLAAB INNVIERTE AGRIFOOD TECH, FCRE, managed by SWANLAAB VENTURE FACTORY, SGEIC, S.A. (Swanlaab Venture Factory) is the first Venture Capital fund specializing in Agri-Food Tech in Spain. It was born with the purpose of materializing innovation in new competitive products and services, to allow the agri-food sector to overcome the demands of the market and the great global and local challenges it faces in primary production, food transformation, logistics, distribution and retail.
Swanlaab Venture Factory is a unique venture capital firm in Spain with a team with over 20 years’ experience in investment, in sectors as diverse as B2B software, agrifood-tech and searchers’ funds. Swanlaab’s team is made up of professionals who have founded and directed their own startups, directed reputable VC funds, and supported as advisors and consultants to launch more than 200 companies to the market, with a clear purpose of helping Spanish entrepreneurs succeed globally.
Innvierte
Innvierte is an initiative whose objective is to promote business innovation by supporting venture capital investment in technology-based or innovative companies. This program is implemented through the closed-ended collective investment company Innvierte Economía Permanente SICC S.M.E., S.A., self-managed and subject to the supervision of the National Securities Market Commission and of which CDTI Innovation is a single shareholder.
To date, the CDTI Innovation has committed, through Innvierte, 3,478.5 M€ in 61 investment vehicles and, through its co-investment line, has directly committed an amount of 866.1 M€ in 197 companies.
Innvierte is part of the Spanish Strategy of Science, Technology and Innovation 2021-2027, approved by Agreement of the Council of Ministers, in September 2020. This Strategy contains the objectives, reforms and measures that must be adopted throughout the field of R+D+I in order to boost its growth and impact, and is one of the pillars on which the design of the Government's R+D+I policy for the coming years is based.

The Center for Technological Development and Innovation, CDTI E.P.E. It is the innovation agency of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, whose objective is the promotion of technological innovation in the business environment. The mission of the CDTI is to ensure that the Spanish business fabric generates and transforms scientific and technical knowledge into globally competitive, sustainable and inclusive growth.
