The collaboration between the CDTI Innovation and the autonomous communities is a strategic instrument to strengthen business innovation, facilitate the access of companies to public programs to support R+D+I and favor the development of technological projects with capacity to generate economic growth and strengthen the competitiveness of the Spanish productive fabric.

In this context, the CDTI Innovation and the Generalitat Valenciana, through the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE+I), have held the eighth meeting of the Joint Commission for the Follow-up of the new collaboration agreement signed between both entities for the promotion of innovation and technological development in this autonomous community. The meeting has made it possible to analyse the evolution of the main activity indicators, evaluate the results achieved and coordinate new lines of joint action.

At the national level, the meeting highlighted the dynamism of the Valencian innovative ecosystem and its high participation in the R+D+I support instruments managed by the CDTI Innovation. The participation in Research and Development projects, the calls for Science and Innovation Missions, the Cervera program, the NEOTEC grants and the Innovation and Transfer Ecosystems initiative form a portfolio of actions that is allowing Valencian companies to develop technologies of high added value, strengthen collaboration between companies and research bodies, favor the transfer of knowledge and accelerate the arrival of innovation to the market.

The Public Purchase of Innovation (CPI) has also been highlighted during the meeting as a tool to promote innovation from the public sector through the acquisition of innovative technological solutions or the development of prototypes capable of responding to challenges of public interest and capable of being validated by entities of the Spanish public sector. The Valencian Community is one of the territories where this instrument has allowed progress in projects of special relevance, such as the validation of the prototype of a compact linear ion accelerator for use in hadrontherapy, a technology with a high potential for application in the health field.

The meeting also reviewed the evolution of the Innvierte program, an initiative of the CDTI Innovation aimed at promoting business innovation by supporting venture capital investment in technology-based or innovative companies. The Valencian Community maintains a prominent presence in this program, both because of the number of companies involved and because of the existence of a specialized investment ecosystem that contributes to promote the scaling of technological companies with high growth potential.

At the international level, the Commission has reviewed the evolution of the participation of Valencian entities in Horizonte Europa and in the main international technological cooperation programs promoted by the CDTI Innovation. The results reflect a solid and growing participation in European collaborative projects, consolidating the position of the Valencian Community as one of the regional ecosystems with the greatest capacity to compete in international R+D+I calls.

Of particular relevance is the participation of Valencian entities in initiatives such as Eureka, Eurostars and various bilateral technological cooperation programs promoted by the CDTI Innovation, which facilitate the development of joint projects with international partners, favor the opening of new markets and reinforce the internationalization of the Valencian innovative business fabric.

The celebration of this Joint Committee reaffirms the commitment of the CDTI Innovation and the Generalitat Valenciana to the strengthening of the regional innovation ecosystem. The coordination between the two institutions will continue to aim to facilitate the access of companies to increasingly specialized financing instruments, promote the development of technologies with high added value and strengthen the participation of the Valencian Community in the main national and international R+D+I programs, thus contributing to consolidate a model of growth based on knowledge, innovation and technological cooperation.
