The CDTI Innovation and the Government of Catalonia strengthen collaboration in innovation and technological development
The seventh meeting of the Joint Committee has made it possible to review the evolution of R&D&I projects supported in Catalonia and to strengthen institutional coordination to promote business innovation in the autonomous community
The CDTI Innovation, the state innovation agency of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and the Generalitat de Catalunya, through the Agència per a la Competitivitat de l’Empresa (ACCIÓ), held last week the seventh meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee of the collaboration agreement between both entities for the promotion of innovation and technological development in the autonomous community.
These meetings make it possible to periodically monitor the Collaboration Agreement, evaluate the results achieved and coordinate joint actions to strengthen support for business innovation and technological development. This cooperation framework also facilitates the exchange of information, the alignment of strategic priorities and the identification of opportunities to improve the participation of Catalan entities in national and international R+D+i programs.
At the national level, the evolution of the activity supported by the CDTI Innovation in Catalonia was analyzed. Currently, the CDTI has 381 requests for national R&D&I funding in its portfolio, representing a total associated budget of 387.9 million euros. It particularly highlights the high participation of Catalan entities in the Science and Innovation Missions program, with 182 applications, as well as their continued presence in Research and Development projects, in the NEOTEC program, aimed at the creation and consolidation of technology-based companies, and in the technological transfer actions promoted through the CERVERA program.
At the international level, the active participation of Catalan entities in international technological cooperation programs was highlighted, as well as the results obtained in Horizonte Europa, where Catalonia maintains a very outstanding position both in terms of number of participations and in return. In particular, the good behavior of the entities of the autonomous community in the clusters of Health, Industry, Digital and Space, Climate, Energy and Mobility, and Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment was noted, which reflects the strength and diversity of its R+D+i ecosystem.
Finally, the promotion, dissemination and advisory activities carried out in Catalonia within the framework of the agreement were reviewed, which include information days, sectoral meetings and coordination actions between both institutions.
The Joint Commission agreed to continue strengthening this collaboration to facilitate the access of Catalan companies to instruments to support innovation and technological development and maximize the impact of public funding on the competitiveness of the business sector.
