The CDTI Innovation and the Galician Innovation Agency celebrate the 7th Joint Monitoring Committee to promote innovation and technological development in Galicia
This meeting reinforces the collaboration between the CDTI Innovation and the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) to continue promoting the participation of Galician entities in national and international R+D+I programs and promote the competitiveness of the regional innovation ecosystem
The collaboration agreements are one of the main instruments of coordination between the CDTI Innovation and the autonomous communities to promote business innovation, improve the complementarity of the instruments to support R+D+I and strengthen the access of companies to national and international financing opportunities.
In this context, the CDTI Innovation and the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) held this week in Santiago de Compostela the 7th Joint Monitoring Committee of the Collaboration Agreement signed between both entities. This collaboration dates back to 2006 and is currently articulated through the agreement signed in 2019 and extended in 2023.
During the meeting, the main indicators of participation of Galician entities in the national programs managed by the CDTI Innovation have been reviewed and the results obtained in the different instruments of support to business R+D+I have been analyzed. Among the most outstanding actions are the calls for proposals for Ecosystems, ERDF Interconnect, NEOTEC and aid for Research and Development (IDI) projects.
Galicia also presents a positive evolution in the field of Innvierte, the program of the CDTI Innovation aimed at promoting business innovation by supporting venture capital investment in technology-based or innovative Spanish companies. Through this instrument, Innvierte has committed 4.5 million euros in co-investments in five Galician technology companies in sectors such as space, digital health, biotechnology, advanced software and agrifood technologies.
Another of the areas analyzed during the meeting was the participation of Galician entities in the international R+D+I programs promoted by the CDTI. As a reference agency for the technological internationalization of Spanish companies, the CDTI promotes national participation in Horizon Europe and in multilateral technology cooperation initiatives such as Eureka, Eurostars, Iberoeka, PRIMA, European partnerships, bilateral programs and other international cooperation actions. It also provides specialized support to Spanish entities through its Network of International Delegations, facilitating access to new partners, markets and opportunities for international collaboration.
The results of Galicia in Horizonte Europa so far are very positive. With provisional data for the period 2021-2025, 128 Galician entities, among them 74 companies, have participated in the program and have attracted 186.6 million euros of funding. The success rate of Galician entities reaches 18.7% compared to 15.1% registered in Horizon 2020, which reflects a positive evolution of Galician participation in the Framework Programme and the ability of its entities to compete in highly demanding international calls.
The celebration of this Joint Commission reaffirms the commitment of the CDTI Innovation and GAIN to the strengthening of the Galician ecosystem of innovation and to the promotion of the participation of companies, technological centers and research organizations in national and international financing programs that contribute to improving the competitiveness and technological capacity of Galicia.
