The Ezcaray Tech for Future Congress brings together for two days, on 15 and 16 October 2026, companies, public administrations and agents of the innovation ecosystem around the challenges of the digital and technological transformation of the rural territory. Held in Ezcaray (La Rioja) and organized by Subtracaia Rural Tech, the event provides a meeting point between the reality of small and medium-sized enterprises in the context of emerging ecosystems of innovation and the opportunities provided by innovation as a lever of territorial competitiveness, paying special attention to applied innovation, digital transformation, business activity, tourism, industry and new formulas of public innovation.

The program of Ezcaray Tech for Future 2026 addresses during the two days different dimensions of the technological transformation of the territories. These include artificial intelligence and data sovereignty, the application of ICT in rural areas, public and private investment, industrial transformation, technologies linked to tourism, the transfer of knowledge from research to society and entrepreneurship and innovation in the local environment. The meeting thus proposes innovation not only as an incorporation of technology, but as a process of connection between company, administration, university, knowledge centers and society capable of generating new economic activity and opportunities linked to the territory.

Ezcaray Tech for Future, in its second edition, aims to turn technology into an effective tool for rural development and generate new economic opportunities from the territory. The initiative seeks to strengthen the connections between companies and institutions, attract knowledge and encourage the creation of economic activity compatible with the characteristics and capacities of the rural environment.

This perspective coincides with the orientation of the CDTI Innovation to contribute to a more connected and capillary Spanish innovation system, capable of identifying business and technological capabilities wherever they arise and of promoting the incorporation of new actors into innovation networks. In this sense, the collaboration with Ezcaray Tech for Future is part of a strategy aimed at expanding the perimeter of innovation, bringing instruments, knowledge and networks to companies and agents operating in emerging ecosystems and favoring the connections between local capacities and the national innovation system as a whole.

Interventions of the CDTI

The CDTI Innovation, the innovation agency of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, collaborates with this edition of the congress and actively participates in its program, in line with its objective of extending innovation capacities to the whole territory and promoting the emergence and consolidation of new innovative ecosystems.

The general director of the CDTI Innovation, José Moisés Martín Carretero, will speak on October 15 in one of the central presentations of the day. Their participation will address the role of technological innovation in economic and business development and the importance of generating the necessary conditions for companies, knowledge, financing and innovative capabilities to be able to connect also outside the large technological poles.

The presence of the CDTI also extends to two of the debates on the programme. María Vega Gil Díaz, Director of Certification and Innovative Public Procurement of the CDTI, will participate in the table dedicated to “Public purchase of innovation and open innovation in a local environment”, conceived as an international dialogue on the potential of the public sector to act as a driver and claimant of innovative solutions. For her part, María Pilar González Gotor, Head of Promotion and Territorial Cooperation, will moderate the panel “Information and communication technologies (ICT) in rural areas: promotion of development and innovation”, in which representatives of Red.es, Arsys and Multiverse Computing will participate.

The participation of the CDTI Innovation in Ezcaray thus reinforces its commitment to a more territorially distributed, connected and accessible innovation and to the development of ecosystems capable of transforming knowledge and technology into new business, economic and social opportunities.
