The CDTI Innovation seeks a Spanish company to collaborate with Egypt in an R&D project on the treatment of diabetic ulcers
The initiative proposes to transform agro-industrial vegetable waste into bioactive products to develop a patch for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers
The University of Deraya of Egypt is looking for a Spanish company to collaborate in an R&D project aimed at the biotreatment of diabetic foot ulcers. The search, promoted by Dr. Usama Ramadan, director of the Research Office of the University of Deraya, and Prof. Associate Nourhan Shady, of the Faculty of Pharmacy, proposes to develop new products from agro-industrial vegetable waste.
The project proposes to use plant waste from agricultural and agro-industrial processing as a source of high-value bioactive molecules. From these resources it is proposed to obtain standardized bioactive fractions and develop a biointeractive nanohydrogel patch to accelerate the healing of diabetic foot ulcers.
This initiative seeks to establish an integrated circular economy platform that allows progress from the extraction of bioactive compounds on a laboratory scale to the development of a standardized, scalable and quality-controlled product for the treatment of wounds in diabetic patients.
The proposed proposal aims at its presentation to the call 2026 of the ESIP program "Egypt Spain Innovation Programme", within the framework of the Spanish-Egyptian Bilateral Technological Cooperation Program, which will remain open until December 3, 2026.
