The CDTI Innovation seeks Spanish companies to participate in an R+D+I project in additive manufacturing by electric arc
The CIM-UPC seeks Spanish companies interested in collaborating in an international R&D project in additive manufacturing by electric arc, within the framework of the call for Advanced Manufacturing of the SMART Eureka Cluster program 2025-2026
As part of the call for advanced manufacturing of the SMART Eureka Cluster program, the CIM-UPC is looking for Spanish partners to participate in the international CARVE project.
The proposal focuses on the following areas of application:
- Additive manufacturing systems by electric arc (DED-arc or WAAM).
- Development of advanced processes with real-time monitoring and AI/ML algorithms, supported by simulation and predictive models, to automatically optimize and adjust manufacturing parameters.
- Validation through industrial demonstrators and materials of high interest (aluminum alloys and Cr-Mo steels), with the aim of reducing variability, energy consumption and material waste.
This proposal is aimed at companies with experience in the following areas:
- Integrator of robotics and industrial automation (Industry 4.0): Companies with experience in robotic cells, integration of sensors (cameras, laser, profilometers) and communication with control systems such as PLC or SCADA.
- Technological company specializing in artificial vision and AI applied to manufacturing: Software or AI developers working with online inspection, 3D reconstruction, anomaly detection and adaptive control. Ideal for strengthening the part of algorithms, data flow and closed-loop control, aligned with project monitoring.
- Companies in real need of WAAM/DED-arc that manufacture or repair large components, such as welded structures in energy, naval, railway or heavy machinery sectors.
- Industrial end user: Companies that work with heavy metal fabrication and need to produce large parts.
