The CDTI Innovation advances the priority technologies of the next call for Cervera Grants for Technology Centers 2026 to facilitate the preparation of proposals and predictability

  • The seven technology areas encompass strategic security and defense capabilities—digital twins, quantum sensors, hypersonic flight, kinetic electromagnetic systems, and metamaterials—and civil technologies for the circular economy and intelligent transportation
  • Early publication enables technology centres to start networking in advance, in line with CDTI’s commitment to facilitate concurrence and maximise lead time.
  • The identification of these priority technologies has been carried out in response to the strategic challenges defined in the Strategic Plan CDTI 2024-2027 and the priorities of the Industrial and Technological Plan for Security and Defense

Avance CERVERA 2026
The Cervera 2026 call will strengthen strategic technological capabilities for industrial autonomy and competitiveness

The CDTI Innovation, the innovation agency of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, advances the publication of the priority technologies that make up the next call 2026 of Cervera Aid for Technology Centers, whose formal opening is planned in May. With this anticipated publication, the CDTI focuses on offering the ecosystem of technology centers as much time as possible to begin work on group design, articulation of networks of excellence and preparation of proposals before the official application deadline is opened.

The Cervera Grants for Technological Centers program of the CDTI Innovation is aimed at strengthening, through competitive competition grants, the technological centers that develop applied research in Spain and their tractor role in the Spanish System of Science, Technology and Innovation. In particular, the programme strengthens the capacities of these centres in strategic technologies through networking and promotes their ability to collaborate with companies in these technologies.

For the call of 2026, and following the strategic priorities included in the Strategic Plan 2024-2027 and the Industrial and Technological Plan for Security and Defense, the CDTI Innovation has identified seven priority technological areas:

Cervera priority areas related to security and defense:
1.Advanced digital twins for the reinforcement of defense
capabilities 2.Quantum sensors applied to defense
3.Enabling technologies for vehicles in hypersonic flight
4.Technologies for kinetic electromagnetic systems
5.Advanced metamaterials and nanomaterials for defence and security applications

Priority areas Cervera civil:
6.Circular economy
7.Intelligent transport

The identification of these priority technologies has been carried out in response to the strategic challenges defined in the Strategic Plan CDTI 2024-2027, the priorities of the Industrial and Technological Plan for Security and Defense, and the differential technological capabilities of the Spanish technological centers in the context of strategic autonomy and industrial competitiveness.

As an important consideration, the CDTI Innovation recalls that the published content maintains the provisional and informative character and that the priority technologies advanced could be subject to modifications in the final call for proposals, being binding only the final wording that appears in the official text of the call for proposals.
