The CDTI Innovation announces the opening of the PRIMA 2026 call for R&D projects in the Mediterranean area

The call, open since 20 March, will support research and innovation projects in sustainable water management, agricultural systems and the agri-food chain, with the aim of strengthening sustainability and competitiveness in the Mediterranean region.

The PRIMA Programme (Partnership on Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area) is an initiative that promotes scientific and technological collaboration between countries of the Mediterranean region with the aim of developing common research capacities, knowledge and innovative solutions that contribute to a more sustainable management of water systems, agriculture and the agri-food chain.

The PRIMA Program currently has 20 countries committed to the initiative: Algeria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Malta, Morocco, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey.

In this context, the CDTI Innovation acts as a funding agency and national point of contact of the PRIMA Program in Spain, providing advice to interested entities, supporting the preparation of proposals and managing Spanish participation in the calls, in coordination with the PRIMA Secretariat.

The PRIMA 2026 call, open since March 20, is structured around research and innovation lines focused on sustainable water management, resilient farming systems and more efficient agri-food chains, addressing challenges associated with sustainability, resilience against climate change and efficient use of resources.

The projects may include both collaborative research actions and innovation activities aimed at the development of solutions transferable to the market.The closing date for the submission of proposals, through the electronic headquarters of the PRIMA Program, is May 15, 2026.

Infoday PRIMA 2026

On March 26, an Infoday PRIMA 2026 will take place in virtual format, organized by the PRIMA Secretariat.

The event, which will be held from 10:00 to 13:30 hours, is aimed at potential applicants, project coordinators and other agents interested in the call and will allow to know in detail its contents, conditions of participation and process of presentation of proposals.

Interested persons can consult more information and register through the CDTI event platform.
