Call Eureka Globalstars opened with Japan for bilateral R&D projects with support from the CDTI Innovation
The call offers Spanish companies the opportunity to develop R&D projects in cooperation with Japanese companies to develop innovative, market-oriented and civil-use products, processes or services. The deadline for submission of proposals is 20 January 2027.
Eureka and the Japanese agency NEDO have opened, on October 7, a new Call Globalstars with Japan to promote bilateral R&D projects between Japanese companies and participating Eureka countries, including Spain. The deadline for submitting applications is January 20, 2027.
The call aims to develop innovative products, processes or services oriented to the market and for civil use. The expected date for the start of the selected projects is August 1, 2027.
The consortiums must be made up of at least two independent companies, a medium-sized or small unlisted Japanese company, according to the definition established in Japanese legislation, whose main R&D work centre is located in Japan, and another company from one of the Eureka countries participating in the call, such as Spain.
Each project must involve at least two countries whose participation must be relevant and, in no case, any of the countries will be able to assume more than 70% of the total project budget. On the other hand, the budget must be consistent with the expected developments and the technical and financial capacity of the participants.
More information on the specific call requirements and the procedure to be followed for submitting proposals will be published on the CDTI website in the coming weeks. You can consult the NEDO announcement, in Japanese, at this link.
Financing of the projects
The approved proposals will receive the Eureka seal which, in addition to internationally recognising the technological level of the proposal, allows access to national public funding. Each participating country will fund its own entities. In the case of Spain, the selected projects will be financed through the CDTI Innovation tools for R&D projects in international collaboration.
Platform for partner search
To facilitate contact between interested companies and the formation of international consortia, the Globalstars Call with Japan Matchmaking platform has been enabled, where potential participants can search for partners and explore collaboration opportunities.
It is recommended to contact the corresponding national agency as soon as a project idea is available:
- Headquarters of the CDTI Innovation in Madrid: Merced Pérez
- Office of the CDTI Innovation in Japan: Jordi Espluga
