Joint call SKIT 2026 between Spain and Korea
On 12 January 2026, the first joint call of the SPAIN-KOREA INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORT TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM, SKIT for its acronym, was opened for the presentation of International Technological Cooperation Proposals focused on the infrastructure and transport sector. The call will remain open until February 26, 2026.
You can consult here the English text of the so-called SKIT 2026.
The Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), an entity belonging to the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement (KAIA), a public agency under the Ministry of Territory, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) of the Republic of Korea, have reached an agreement with the objective of publishing a joint call in 2026 for the submission of proposals for technological cooperation in technologies related to the infrastructure and transport sector.
The period of submission of proposals will include from January 12 to February 26, 2026, with the objective that the projects start from July 1, 2026.
The CDTI and KAIA are committed to promoting and supporting economically joint technological projects of Spanish and Korean business entities (independent of each other), being able to count on the support of non-business entities in Spain as subcontractors.
Characteristics of the projects:
The projects, in addition to dealing with the indicated theme, must comply with the following characteristics:
- The result of these must be an innovative product, process or service oriented to the market as a result of the technological cooperation of the participants.
- The consortium must be made up of at least one Spanish company and one Korean company independent of each other and the project must be relevant to all partners (no country or member of the consortium must have more than 70% budget).
- The duration of the projects will be 30 months.
- The budget must be consistent with the developments to be carried out and with the technical/financial capacity of the participants.
Participants must sign a Consortium Agreement that specifies the rights and obligations of the parties regarding the development made and the possible rights of intellectual property, exploitation and marketing of the results.
Procedure for submitting proposals:
In the CDTI, the submission procedure distinguishes between the International PCTI-SKIT Application and the National Aid Application.
For the International Application, the participants must submit, at the electronic headquarters of the CDTI and KAIA respectively, until February 26, 2026, the corresponding online application accompanied by the following mandatory international documentation (in English), common to all partners: SKIT Application Form (update link for document download) and Consortium Agreement, both signed by all consortium partners.
Specifically, for the Spanish part, the International Application (PCTI-SKIT) must be submitted online through the CDTI electronic headquarters and will be unique by project, even if there are two or more Spanish companies in the consortium.
Once the International Application has been submitted, both CDTI and KAIA will begin the verification of the eligibility of the proposals according to the characteristics of the call.
In addition, the consortium’s Spanish partners must submit, also through the CDTI’s electronic headquarters, the Application for National Aid (on-line form + technical report in Spanish), which will be independent for each Spanish company participating in the consortium. In order to comply with the resolution deadlines committed by both agencies, it is mandatory that the Spanish companies of the consortium submit their National Aid Applications to CDTI before March 10, 2026.
Features of the help:
The SKIT Program endorses the approved projects through a "seal of quality" which, in addition to being a promotional element and recognition of the technological level of the proposal, in the case of this call makes it worthy of public funding. Each country will assume the financing of its participating entities.
The financing of Spanish companies in the SKIT Program will be carried out through the instruments defined by CDTI for R&D projects of International Technological Cooperation. Currently they are partially refundable subsidies, but it is planned to publish in 2026 a new INNOGLOBAL call to which companies that meet their requirements can apply.
Contacts:
It is recommended that each partner contacts their national agency as soon as possible, as soon as they have a project idea.
