The CDTI and DOIT (Department of Industrial Technology, Ministry of Economic Affairs) of Taiwan signed an agreement that, among the various activities of promoting collaboration, contemplates the establishment of a joint technological cooperation program with the objective of promoting and financing joint technological development projects carried out between entities of Taiwan and Spain.

To this end, since 2023 and on an annual basis, the joint call for technological cooperation with Taiwanese companies has been launched within the framework of the Taiwan Spain Innovation Program (TSIP), jointly managed by the CDTI (Center for Technological Development and Innovation) and the DOIT (Department of Industrial Technology of Taiwan), with the support of the ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute).

The program provides mechanisms for the joint evaluation and financing of technological cooperation business initiatives that have as their common objective that Taiwanese and Spanish companies develop research and development projects that address the specific needs or challenges of the market and represent a technological contribution of industrial relevance and commercial potential through the development of a new process or marketable product. The international seal is provided to positively evaluated projects, which will allow them to be financed through the national instruments available by CDTI and DOIT according to their respective standards and procedures.

How to participate in the program?

Once the project is defined among all participants, following the indications of the call, the duly signed TSIP form must be presented at both the CDTI in Spain and the DOIT in Taiwan, along with the consortium agreement.

Spanish participants will have to register in the CDTI the application of the Bilateral project through the application online project application. This request will be developed in two phases. In Phase I, the web form will be filled out and the signed TSIP form must be included, along with the consortium agreement. Phase II will include a complementary technical-financial memory for Spanish tasks that includes a project plan (the templates are available on the web system).

Taiwanese participants will have to register their application according to DOIT indications.

Each country, through its management bodies, in Spain, the CDTI, and in Taiwan the DOIT, are responsible for the evaluation and subsequent certification of approved projects with a "quality seal", which offers participating companies:

• Added value associated with international cooperation and official recognition of the technological level of the participants
• It makes it easier for companies to obtain financial aid in each country according to their own rules and without the exchange of funds. Specifically, in Spain, the CDTI makes available the Research and Development Projects, a partially refundable aid, with a financial coverage of up to 75% of the total approved budget, being able, exceptionally, to reach 85%, with a refundable stretch and a non-refundable stretch.In addition, the second edition of the INNOGLOBAL call for grants is scheduled to be launched in the first half of 2027 and will be funded through grants. TSIP projects that have the TSIP seal will be eligible for this funding.
